Now that we have a good idea of what summaries are in general, let’s talk about some specific types of summary you will likely have to do at some point in your writing life. In this moment, you aren’t saying what you think of the work you are summarizing, you are just giving your audience enough information to know what the work says or did. While in the longer work you are creating you might use opinion, within the summary itself, you should avoid all personal opinion. Summaries shouldn’t contain personal opinion. That’s a problem! Similarly, if you write a summary of your job history and say you volunteered at a hospital for the last three years, but you don’t add that you only went twice in that time, it becomes a little dishonest.Ĥ. It should also include enough details to give a clear and honest picture.įor example, if you summarize an article that says “ The Office is the greatest television show of all time,” but don’t mention that they are specifically referring to sitcoms, then you changed the meaning of the article. A summary should tell the reader the highlights of what they need to know without giving them unnecessary details.ģ. A summary should always be shorter than the original work, usually considerably.Įven if your summary is the length of a full paper, you are likely summarizing a book or other significantly longer work.Ģ. Let’s go over a few general guides to writing a summary first.ġ. How Do You Write a Summary?Īcademic, professional, and personal summaries each require you to consider different things, but there are some key rules they all have in common. Instead of having them read the article or hear every single detail of the story or event, you instead give them a brief overview of what they need to know. When you want them to understand your argument, topic, or stance, you may need to explain some things to catch them up. When you write a summary, you have an audience that doesn’t know every single thing you know. Summaries are used at some level in almost every writing task, from formal documents to personal messages.
People took souvenirs, and nothing was done to try to preserve those until fairly late in the game.” On the other hand, there is a legitimate scientific interest in investigating how the equipment that’s on the moon was affected by a decades-long stay there.īut how to preserve and protect human artifacts on the moon? In 1999, the anthropologist Beth O’Leary, with the Lunar Legacy Project, proposed that Tranquility Base become a National Historic Landmark. Roger Launius, senior curator of space history at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C., warned: “What we don’t want to happen is what happened in Antarctica at Scott’s hut. Historians and archaeologists are keen to avoid lunar looting. And with Jeff Bezos’ recent unveiling of a mock-up of the lunar lander Blue Moon, it is only a matter of time before corporate adventurers and space tourists reach the moon. Had LunaCorp not abandoned the idea in the early 2000s, the company’s plan to send a robot to visit the most famous sites of moon exploration could have done a lot of damage. The astronauts’ first bootprints will likely be on the moon for a long time, and will almost certainly still be there when humans next visit-unless, by tragic coincidence, a meteorite hits them first. But the moon’s thin atmosphere also means that solar wind particles bombard the lunar surface, and harsh ultraviolet light has likely bleached the U.S. Unlike Earth, the moon has no wind that carries away the dust, no rain to corrode materials, and no plate tectonic activity to pull sites on the surface back into the moon. Without Apollo 12 upsetting the moon dust, Surveyor 3 would likely have remained stark white. Harsh ultraviolet light has likely bleached the U.S. It was covered in a fine layer of moon dust, likely kicked up by their landing. As they approached the spacecraft, they were surprised: The spacecraft, originally bright white, had turned light brown. The next day, Conrad and Bean hopped to Surveyor 3. On November 19, 1969, Charles “Pete” Conrad and Alan Bean manually landed their lunar module in the moon’s Ocean of Storms, 200 meters from the unmanned probe Surveyor 3, which was left sitting on the moon’s surface two years earlier, in 1967. Just how fragile humankind’s lunar traces are was seen already during Apollo 12. While the oldest then known examples of hominins walking on two feet were cemented in ash 3.6 million years ago, “those at Tranquility Base could be swept away with a casual brush of a space tourist’s hand.” Fragile Traces “Surely, those footprints are as important as those left by hominids at Laetoli, Tanzania, in the story of human development,” the anthropologist P.J. Archaeologists argue that these objects are a record to trace the development of humans in space. Could a National Park on the moon be the solution to saving Armstrong’s bootprints for future archaeologists?įlags, rovers, laser-reflecting mirrors, footprint-these are just a few of the dozens of artifacts and features that bear witness to our exploration of the moon. Fifty years later, experts are debating how to preserve humankind’s first steps beyond Earth. When Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon on July 20, 1969, the pictures sent to Earth captured a historical moment: It was the first time that any human set foot on another body in our solar system. This kind of gameplay will allow for many strategies to solve the puzzles in Odyssey. For example, Cappy can suspend himself in air to allow Mario to use him as a kind of ledge. The cap can’t be damaged while in flight. When you play as Cappy you can drive them away by ramming into them. However, the camera will always focus on Mario and not cappy.Īs Mario, you can run around and step on enemies to defeat them. Mario and Cappy can move around independently. With a second player, Cappy’s visual avatar hovers above Mario. You can hand your other Nintendo Switch controller to your friend to play as the mario odyssey Cappy hat. In Super Mario Odyssey Multiplayer Co-Op mode, one player will be able to control Mario. Unfortunately, there’s no word of an online multiplayer, and players can only control cappy or Mario. Super Mario Odyssey multiplayer is co-operative. With the Mario Odyssey Cappy Hat around as a playable character, it will be easier for you to get through certain parts of the game. Multiplayer, on the other hand, is significantly easier. In single player mode, you will have a harder time when you need to control cappy around specific puzzles like the music puzzle shown in Super Mario Odyssey’s E3 demonstration. You could play the game in single player or in co-operative multiplayer mode. Therefore, these two will have to work together to save Peach. Nintendo developers designed the game to challenge Cappy and Mario. Along the way, he meets Cappy, a spirit that inhabits hats. In this adventure, Mario will have to go through many worlds to save Princess Peach. The game features the 36 year-old Nintendo Icon. This Nintendo-developed video game will show up in stores this October 27. "As for Network features," Koizumi continued, "since this is something the hardware is capable of, there might be something that you'll head about there as well, and we hope you'll look forward to it."Įarlier today, Nintendo announced the official release date for Super Mario Odyssey, which is now scheduled to release on October 27, 2017. The timing is not quite there, so I hope you're able to wait for a little longer to hear about that." So there probably is some.thing you'll hear about multiplayer. When asked about multiplayer and online support, Koizumi stated: "The first thing I want to say about multiplayer is that since this is the Nintendo Switch, and it does have two controllers, it's very easy for you to imagine handing one to another person. While our hands-on impressions didn't give us a look at the feature, we did learn it's likely coming. During a roundtable interview yesterday with Yoshiaki Koizumi and Kenta Motokura of Nintendo EPD, the possibility of multiplayer in Super Mario Odyssey came up and was all but confirmed by Koizumi. We got our best look yet at Super Mario Odyssey as part of Nintendo's E3 Presentation, and while that largely focused on what Mario's hat makes possible, it isn't the only noteworthy revelation out of the show. Wes Montgomery played almost exclusively on a Gibson L-5 CES plugged most of the time into Fender amps ( super reverb, twin reverb, deluxe). The only hard part is figuring out what the shape goes over.Wes Montgomery was an American guitar jazz player, considered one of the greatest jazz guitarists of all time. The first solo appeared on the '57 recording, FINGERPICKIN'(Pacific Jazz), while the 2nd solo, which is an alternate take performance from '61, appears on the CD, THE ALTERNATIVE WES MONTGOMERY(Riverside). The point of transcription is not just to figure out the right notes to play, but to develop an understanding of the music and how to make artistic decisions on crafting a solo. In Jazz, a lot of people try and cram new ideas into every bar of their improv. Transcription is one of the best ways to develop jazz vocabulary and style. Let's look at a couple things in his single note lines that work well on guitar! While transcribing literally means to write down. I was drawn to this solo because 1) it has Wes's amazing bebop language that works so well on guitar 2) it has it one of his famous "Octave" solos. The following is an analysis of one-half of Wes four-chorus solo on Milt Jacksons blues in F, Sam Sack which was recorded on the 1961 CD, BAGS MEETS WES. Wes Montgomery is one of my favorite guitar players, and this is a solo of his I learned years ago by ear. Widely regarded as the most influential jazz guitarist since the death of Charlie Christian, Wes Montgomery (1923-1968) revolutionised jazz guitar technique.
